"Chosen to help celebrate Quartz Reef's 21 years at Bendigo, in Central Otago, the 2010 vintage (5*) is a real conversation piece. An estate-grown blend of Chardonnay (93 per cent) and Pinot Noir (7 per cent), it was disgorged in May 2019, after maturing for 8 1/2 years on its yeast lees. A unique wine, it is rare (only 500 bottles were produced), with mature colour and a fragrant, very yeasty bouquet. Still vigorous, it has intense, yeasty, toasty, nutty flavours, showing real complexity, and an unusually dry (4 grams/litre residual sugar) finish. Ready." By Michael Cooper (Dec 2019)

A couple of newly released Quartz Reef wines crossed my tasting table recently – both earned an unhesitating gold score from me.
