The story

Quartz Reef is Central Otago’s Sparkling House: organic & biodynamic, crafted in-house, and shaped by the traditional method since 1998. Our style is crisp, dry, with fine mousse and bright citrus. Complete on its own and magical with seafood, salt, rich dishes, and all the celebrations worth raising a glass to.

Our house style is a signature you can recognise vintage after vintage — built on the quiet discipline of doing the hard parts well, repeatedly. The most admired producers are admired for exactly that: consistent quality and an identity that holds over time. Quartz Reef was built the same way, just at the edge of the world in Bendigo, Central Otago.

Bright light, cool nights, and a long growing season give us the foundations our house style depends on: precision, natural acidity, and clarity of fruit — the bones of elegance. And then we do the patient part: traditional method, made in-house, and given time on lees to build texture and complexity.

Our Méthode Traditionnelle range

We make a focused collection of premium traditional-method sparkling wines from biodynamic Bendigo fruit:Brut NV, Rosé NV, Vintage Blanc de Blancs, and Vintage Rosé.

Each wine is shaped by extended lees ageing, precise acidity, and Central Otago clarity.

No. Our house style is crisp and dry with bright citrus and a clean finish.

What does “traditional method” mean?

It means the bubbles are created by a second fermentation in the bottle, the classic method used for Champagne, building finer mousse and more texture over time. 

What does biodynamic/organic mean for the taste?

It tends to show up as purity and detail. Cleaner fruit expression, more “place,” and a sense of energy in the wine.
