This year, we are especially proud to be part of the celebration of The Real Review’s Top Wineries of New Zealand 2026, where Quartz Reef was named among the Top 5 wineries in New Zealand. Even more special for our team, our founder and vigneron Rudi Bauer was named Vigneron of the Year 2026.
The The Real Review Top Wineries of New Zealand 2026 tasting is returning to The Glasshouse in Morningside, Auckland, bringing together an impressive line-up of wineries stretching from Waiheke Island to Central Otago.
And this year, we’re especially excited to be part of it.
2026 has already been a memorable year for Quartz Reef.
Our founder and vigneron Rudi Bauer was named The Real Review Vigneron of the Year 2026, recognising his longstanding commitment to both viticulture and winemaking. The Real Review describes the award as recognising an outstanding vigneron in the true French sense, someone deeply involved in both the vineyard and the making of the wine.
For Rudi and the Quartz Reef team, this recognition is particularly meaningful. For more than 25 years, Rudi has championed the unique terroir of Bendigo, Central Otago, with a focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture and wines that express their place.
And now, we get to share a little piece of that story with you.
Among the wines being poured at the tasting will be something rather special from the Quartz Reef cellar:
Our new Methode Traditionnelle Vintage Rosé 2021
A wine with time, patience and plenty of character behind it, and one we're very excited to have the opportunity to share at this gathering of New Zealand's top wineries.
If you know Quartz Reef, you'll know that sparkling wine is at the heart of what we do. Our méthode traditionnelle wines are made with the same attention to detail and respect for the vineyard that has always guided us.
But there is something particularly exciting about opening a bottle that has had time to develop (5 years!).
And we can't wait to see what you think.
The Real Review Top Wineries tasting is about much more than simply tasting great wine. It's an opportunity to meet the people behind the bottles, hear their stories and discover wines you may not otherwise have the chance to taste.
New Zealand reviewer Stephen Wong MW will be your MC for the day, sharing his knowledge and recommendations throughout the event.
There will also be the chance to taste rare bottles, discover upcoming releases and talk directly with the winemakers and artisans behind some of New Zealand's most exciting wines.
For us, it's a wonderful opportunity to bring a taste of Bendigo, Central Otago to Auckland, and to celebrate a very special year for Quartz Reef.
