Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle Rose NV

“Rudi Bauer is Central Otago’s fizz master. His new-release brut rose is crafted from 100 percent hand-picked, organically-grown pinot noir, bottle fermented and aged on its less (spent yeast cells) for at least 18 months. Prepare for a whiff of rhubarb custard, cashew creaminess and a whisper of cherry. It’s supremely stylish and sort of rebellious, a little like the Meghan Markle of method I think. Delicately structured and deliciously dry, its pillowy perfection on the palate. Sip with salmon yakitori.”

"Instantly appealing, the vivacious, non-vintage wine (5*) I tasted in mid 2018 was estate-grown at Bendigo, in Central Otago. Made entirely from Pinot Noir and disgorged in autumn 2018, it is bright pink, with a fragrant, berryish, gently yeasty bouquet. Crisp and tightly structured, it has lively peach, strawberry and apricot flavours, showing impressive depth and complexity, and a finely textured, smooth, dry (4 grams/litre residual sugar) finish."

"A wine of great presence, the vivacious 2013 vintage (5*) is promoted as the 'crown jewel' of Quartz Reef's Central Otago sparklings. A blend of Chardonnay (91 per cent) and Pinot Noir (9 per cent), estate-grown at Bendigo, it is pale straw, with very intense, citrusy, yeasty, biscuity flavours, crisp acidity and a lasting, dry (4 grams/litre residual sugar) finish."
