The grapes were hand picked in ideal condition and ripeness from the Pisa Range Estate Vineyard, owned by Jenny and Warwick Hawker, on the 11th of April. 24.2 Brix.

5 days cold maceration – hand plunging, pressed off 4 days after dryness. 50% new French Oak medium toast.

The winemaking process was very much in keeping with the traditional practices from the Old World. The winemaker, Rudi Bauer, has combined these techniques with his own experience, and more importantly, personal understanding of this variety.

Production was 150 cases.

The Pinot Noir 1998 shows an intensity of berry fruit flavours. A strong bouquet and palate typical of great Pinot Noir. The wine is well structured, elegant and nicely balanced.

Aging Potential: 5 to 8 years
