This is the eighth release from our Bendigo Estate Vineyard – a 15 hectare north sloping ideal site planted on grafted pinot noir vines of various clones and rootstocks in the heart of Central Otago.

The fruit was hand picked in ideal condition 26th March 2008. The winemaking was very much in keeping with the traditional practices from the old world.

The Pinot Noir clones (10-5, 5, 115 & 777 – from our 1998 block) were co-fermented, with 22% whole bunches, 6 days cold maceration. Indigenous yeast fermentation peaked at 30–33oC. Post fermentation maceration over 6 – 9 days, depending on tannin structure, before being pressed (total duration 26 days) and transferred into all French oak, of which 28% new, and 72% 1 year old. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in spring followed by egg-white fining before bottling in June 2009. Limited Release Magnum & 750ml.

Bouquet: Dominated by layers of dark berries and thyme
Palate: Showing masculinity with its ripe, fruit-glazed fine tannins, so typical of our Bendigo vineyard
Aging Potential: 6 to 10 years
