This is the sixth release from Bendigo, a new viticultural sub-region of Central Otago, available in 750ml and magnums. The Quartz Reef Bendigo Estate Vineyard is a 15-hectare north-sloping perfect site, planted on grafted pinot noir vines of various clones and rootstocks.

This is the sixth release from our Bendigo Estate Vineyard – a 15 hectare north sloping ideal site planted on grafted pinot noir vines of various clones and rootstocks in the heart of Central Otago.

The fruit was hand picked in ideal conditions on the 28th March.  The winemaking was very much in keeping with the traditional practices from the old world.

The Pinot Noir clones (777 & 115) were co-fermented, using approximately 20% whole bunches, with 7 days cold maceration.  Fermentation peaked at 31–34 oC.  Post fermentation maceration over 6 – 9 days, depending on tannin structure, before being pressed and transferred into all French oak, of which 28% new, and 72% 2 years and older.

The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in spring before being bottled un-fined and unfiltered on 14th June 2007

Colour: Dense red
Bouquet: A complex nose of dark berry fruits, nutmeg, and hay.
Palate: A textural wine displaying a compact core of fruit that is encased by ripe grainy tannins.  A focused and balanced wine with interest. 
Aging Potential: 6 to 10 years
