Bendigo Estate Pinot Noir

Bendigo Estate Pinot Noir

Quartz Reef

This is the forth release from Bendigo, a new viticultural sub-region of Central Otago, available in numbered magnums.

The Quartz Reef Bendigo Estate Vineyard is a 15-hectare north-sloping perfect site, planted on grafted pinot noir vines of various clones and rootstocks.

Cuvee

Each Pinot Noir clone (Abel & 115) was kept separate, with 100% being destemmed with up to 9 day’s cold maceration. Partly indigenous yeast fermentation peaked at 30oC. Post fermentation maceration over 10 days, with attention to tannin structure, before being pressed and transferred into all French oak, of which 7% was new, 32% 1 year old, and 61% 2 years and older. The wine underwent malolatic fermentation in spring before bottling and received an egg white fining for settling. Bottled on the 1st April 2005.
