Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle NV
"Top of my pops, is Central Otago Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle NV."

Quartz Reef Chauvet Methode Traditionnelle Vintage 2003
With immense finesse and poise, this is one of New Zealand's finest and most Champagne-like sparkling wines. It is made in partnership between this top Central Otago producer and the Champagne House Marc Chauvet, and the secret of some of its seriousness lies in the near four years it's spent developing complexity on its lees. Beautifully balanced bubbles, with a gently yeasty toasty palate underpinned by bright and well integrated minerally lemon and grapefruit acid, and a length that feels like it goes from Central to Champagne and back.

Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle NV
"This exciting Central Otago wine is inspired by a partnership between Quartz Reef and the Marc Chauvet Champagne house in France. It is a blend of about 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. It spends 26 months on lees which gives this methode traditionnelle complexity and depth. This lively, fresh bubbly has delicious lemony, yeasty characters and a long, rich finish."

#5 - Quartz Reef Chauvet Methode Traditionnelle 2002
   stars
"Affiliation with small Champagne house Marc Chauvet underpins Rudi Bauer's sparkling wine cred, and there's a definite French accent to this rich Central Otago sparkler. Citrus and candied fruit characters combine with a delightful lingering tang. Yum."

Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle Chauvet Vintage 2002
94 / stars :
"This is an outstanding sparkling wine. Made from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay with nearly four years on lees, this brilliant bubbly exhibits a rich, complex bouquet of ripe apples and savoury Pinot characters. The palate is amazing: layers of flavours with beautifully weighted texture and fine acidity leading to an incredibly long finish. This is a richer style (Bollinger-like) with power and authority, great as an aperitif but even better with food. One of the finest New World sparkling wines I’ve tasted. At its best: now to 2008."

Quartz Reef Central Otago Pinot Noir 2005
91 points
"Firm and very intense, with muscularity to ripe black cherry, pomegranate and spice box notes. Crushed stone flavors underscore the concentrated fruit, with cedary oak and cut tannins honing the persistent finish. Drink now through 2011."
